Position: Scientist ‘B’
This is a Group ‘A’ Gazetted technical post in the Defence Research & Development Service (DRDS).
- Pay Scale: Level 10 as per 7th CPC – ₹56,100 Basic Pay
- Total Emoluments: Approx. ₹1,00,000/month including HRA and allowances (metro rates)
- Service Liability: Selected candidates can be posted anywhere in India, including field or remote locations
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Engineering Streams: First Class Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology
- Science Streams: First Class Master’s Degree in relevant Science disciplines
- Final-year students can also apply, provided they submit degree proof by July 31, 2025
Note: If your degree is from a foreign university, you must get an equivalency certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
If no “First Class” is awarded, 60% marks or CGPA/CPI of 6.75 on a 10-point scale is treated as equivalent.
GATE Qualification
A valid GATE score (2023, 2024, or 2025) in the relevant paper is mandatory. Your GATE subject must match your qualifying degree discipline.

Selection Process
- Shortlisting: Based on valid GATE scores, discipline-wise and category-wise.
- Personal Interview: Likely held in Delhi or another notified location
- Score Verification: Candidates must verify their GATE score using the official results portal during the interview
- Final Selection Criteria:
- GATE Score: 80% weight
- Interview: 20% weight
