SAIL Management Trainee (Technical) Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit (as on 05.12.2025)
- Maximum Age: 28 years (Born on or after 05.12.1997)
- Relaxations:
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC (NCL): 3 years
- PwBD: 10–15 years depending on category
- Departmental candidates: up to 45 years
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have:
- Degree in Engineering (full-time) with minimum 65% marks (average of all semesters)
- For SC/ST/PwBD/Departmental candidates – minimum 55% marks
Eligible Disciplines:
Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, and Metallurgy.
Equivalent branches such as Mechatronics, Power Engineering, and MCA (for Computer) are also accepted.
SAIL MTT 2025 Selection Process
The selection process includes three key stages:
1. Online Examination (CBT)
- Total Marks: 200
- Part 1 – Domain Knowledge (100 marks)
- Part 2 – Aptitude Test (100 marks) covering:
- Quantitative Aptitude
- English Language
- Reasoning
- General Awareness
Qualifying Marks:
- UR/EWS – 50 percentile
- SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD – 40 percentile

2. Group Discussion (GD) and Interview
Shortlisted candidates (1:3 ratio) will be invited for GD and Interview.

- CBT – 75%
- GD – 10%
- Interview – 15%
In case of a tie, the candidate with higher marks in CBT will be given preference.
Training, Salary, and Placement
Training & Probation
- 1-year training period under Apprentices Act, 1961.
- Followed by 1-year probation as Assistant Manager (E1 Grade).
